Bill Purcell graduated HS in 1965 at 17 years old. He couldn’t enlist in the Marine Corps without parental consent, so he joined the Coast Guard Reserve for a 12-month tour and served 15 months to complete a Guantanamo Cruise! He then transferred to the USMC late in 1966. He did boot camp in Paris Island, Geiger etc. and then served in Vietnam 67-68 with A 1/1. Due to wounds, he was placed on Temporary Retired List late 1968. He then attended St John’s University, NYC and Graduated in 1971. He joined Chase Manhattan BANK’s Real Estate Division Finance and 8 years later joined a National Home Building Company eventually transferring to Colorado to head up the Western Division. He retired in 2013 and joined the USMC Board of Directors in 2019.
